Buying PPE in Bulk for Your Business: A Simple Checklist
October 29, 2026
Equipping a crew or a factory is easier when you plan the order before you contact suppliers. Use this checklist to avoid the usual mistakes: wrong sizes, wrong standards and late deliveries.
1. Decide what you need
- List the hazards for each role: falling objects, noise, dust, chemicals, working at height, traffic.
- Match each hazard to the equipment and the standard it should meet.
- Count your staff and collect their sizes for boots, overalls and gloves. Order a few spare sizes.
2. Ask the right questions
- What is the minimum order and the price at 10, 50 and 100 pieces?
- Which standard does the product meet, and can you see the certificate?
- How many are in stock and how soon can they be delivered to you?
- Can they print or embroider your company logo, and how long does that take?
- What happens if sizes are wrong or items are faulty?
3. Compare properly
Compare the same standard and class, not only the price. Ask for a sample or one pair first if the order is large. Check that quotes include delivery and tax, and ask for an invoice or receipt for your records.
4. Plan the replacements
PPE wears out. Note when you issued each item and plan to replace boots, helmets, gloves and hi-vis on a regular schedule, and after any damage.
Get quotes fast
Instead of calling every shop, post a quote request describing what you need. Sellers who stock it will send you prices and delivery times. You can also browse workwear and message sellers directly.
This guide is general information. It does not replace a risk assessment of your own workplace, and you should always follow the maker’s instructions for the product you buy.
